Natural Perfumery

Natural perfumer, Anya McCoy has added to the ways her students can learn natural perfumery with Anya’s Garden Natural Perfumery Institute’s Basic Perfumery Course. Most recently McCoy has published a full-color textbook which consolidated materials from the 2007 Primer and online materials. Originally published late last year and now on its third printing, the book is over 350 pages and is mailed to the “offline” or distance-learning students, who choose to study on their own. For online students, the textbook is downloadable from the login area of the course website in searchable .PDF format. Online students also have 24/7 access to course content and ancillary teaching aids, including recorded lectures, links to reputable suppliers, quizzes, videos and much more.

The textbook includes Word.doc and Excel.xls evaluation and recording forms for the numerous forms, charts, and formulas that are the supplemental materials to document the educational content. The offline students receive them via email so they may print them as needed. The online students have access to them via download from the website. The website of the Natural Perfumery Institute helps the prospective student choose the option that suits their lifestyle and educational goals. Students may contact McCoy if they have questions about which course is right for them.

Offline students may upgrade to online status at any time, if they so wish. The Institute also hosts an interactive chat group where the students may network with each other, and receive feedback from the instructor.

McCoy launched her first perfume line in Miami in 1992 as Anya’s Tropical Essences. In 2006, she launched a fine perfume line, Anya’s Garden Perfumes, winner of numerous blogger awards for best perfume, and best niche perfumery. She was singled out for awards in categories such as Best Buzz for her initiation and management of two Natural Perfumer Guild projects in 2010, the Mystery of Musk and Outlaw Perfume. She will be teaching her Intermediate Level course in Natural Perfumery and also workshops in natural perfumery and cooking with essential oils later this year in Miami, Florida, USA.
