In a perfect world, every foundation would last all day, and conceal all of those little imperfections that you'd rather the world didn't see. In reality, picking foundations is a trial-and-error process where the errors leave you with oily, breakout-prone skin. So in an effort to avoid foundation horror stories and wasted money, here is a look at the best and worst skin foundations on the market.

Best: Maybelline SuperStay 24HR - While some foundations throw the "24HR" tag at the end of their product to trick unsuspecting consumers, Maybelline SuperStay 24HR actually means something. And it's cheap too since you can get SuperStay 24HR for just $10! Grab this product if you're pulling an all-nighter, or just want assurance that your foundation won't be covering shirt sleeves and pillows more than your face.

Worst: L'oreal Roller Match Foundation - If you're short on Halloween costumes, you can always grab L'oreal Roller Match Foundation because it will literally make you look like you're wearing a mask. The mask-like appearance of Roller Match Foundation also makes your face feel extremely heavy. On a positive note, L'oreal Roller Match Foundation does do a decent job of providing coverage, and the price isn't horrible at $15.

Best: Neutrogena Skin Clearing Liquid Foundation - The great thing about Neutrogena Skin Clearing Foundation is that it not only helps to clear your skin, but it also prevents dreaded acne as well. Besides this, Neutrogena's liquid gem lasts throughout the day, and won't feel heavy on your skin like other foundations do. The $12 price tag on Neutrogena Skin Clearing Foundation makes this product a steal.

Worst: Maybelline New York Super Stay Silky Foundation - Maybelline's Super Stay Silky Foundation has a lot of problems beginning with the fact that it's too dry and thick. In fact, you might even be better off using this as a concealer if you've already made the mistake of buying it. Another problem with Super Stay Silky is that it's pretty cakey-looking, so it's pretty obvious that you're wearing foundation with this product.

Best: Revlon ColorStay - If you're looking for a foundation that does an adequate job of covering imperfections without breaking the bank, Revlon ColorStay products are certainly worth $10. You don't have to worry about ColorStay smudging, and it won't appear caked-on like some makeup does.

Worst: MAC Mineralize Skin Finish - While MAC certainly offers some quality makeup products, Mineralize Skin Finish isn't exactly their best effort. For starters, this foundation doesn't offer much coverage for pimples, and it can even take you back to those embarrassing high school days by causing more unsightly blemishes. On top of this, the price is pretty unsightly too at $26-$28.

Best: Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid - Maybelline's Dream Satin Liquid isn't the best of the best, but it does live up to most of its claims. Dream Satin Liquid makes your pores a lot less noticeable just as advertised (though not exactly pore-less). And while you probably won't get the "airbrush finish" that Maybelline claims this product will provide, Dream Satin Liquid feels light and smooth on your skin. In any case, the $12 price makes this foundation worth a try.
