Reading a Fashion Magazine Won't Make You a Model But


Most women have some degree of interest in fashion, from just wanting to stay “modern”, if not quite up to date, to those of us with more than a passing fancy, wanting to know what the latest must have items are. If you're one with a passion for fashion, fashion magazines offer a world of window shopping right from a cozy chair at home. If it's a rainy day, so much the better!

The world of fashion is a fast moving one and the most successful fashion magazines chart each trend and have a finger on the pulse. They also need to present beautiful photographs and interesting features. Magazines come and go but there are a few long established ones that set the standard for quality and demand a core of loyal readers.

Elle is one such publication, featuring fashion, beauty, health and entertainment. The first edition was published in 1945 in France and editions are still published there, in addition to Brazil, Argentina, Singapore, the UK and the USA.

The magazine hosts the annual awards ceremony known as the Elle Style Awards. Categories include Best Model, Best International Designer, Best Young Designer and Elle Style Icon. The Icon award was given to Helena Christianson in 2005 and the Woman of the Year was Cate Blanchett.

A teen version of the magazine is called ElleGirl, which came on the market in 2001. The print version stopped five years later but a version still exists on their web site. It seems that teenage girls prefer their fashion magazines to be online. The features include reports on runway shows, beauty articles, astrology and reviews on music, books and movies.

One of the most well known publications is Vogue, published by Conde Nast. Many beginner female models use this magazine as a posing guide to learn more about body language, lighting and facial expressions from the best of the best. Today, it is published in the USA, the UK, Australia, Brazil, Japan, Malaysia and several European countries. In addition to articles on fashion, there are items about relationships and women's issues.A celebrity is chosen for the cover each month. The web site has a video that shows behind the scenes and how an issue is compiled. As classic fashion magazines are handed down through the generations, a new readership is always ready and waiting.Some people – un-fashionistas – complain that there are too many ads in fashion magazines. However, those of us who are into fashion, want to buy or at least see what these ads are selling.Therefore, to the fashion-conscious person, ads become content! Some of these ads have pull-apart pages revealing a whiff of the latest designer fragrances, while others contain tiny tubes of lotion. Now who wouldn't enjoy an ad like that? Think of a fashion magazine as something you can use as a guide when new things start coming into stores. You may not be as afraid to try new things as you used to be.Yes, indeed, you've got at least a half a days worth of reading entertainment ahead of you, and you are likely to learn at least a few current fashion trends you might have missed online.
