Denim Wear For Every Occasion

The history of denim wear dates two centuries back in the past and is deemed as international to be accepted in every corner of the world. Jeans wear is appreciated by men and women, poor and rich people, adults and the youth. Jeans is the most democratic apparel for they are affordable irrespective of the social status and financial reputation. America was once overwhelmed with denim fashion when the jeans hardly became the national clothing, and then it was adopted in more conservative countries.

Denim wear is deemed to appear in 1853 when a young Jew fellow Leiba aka Levi Strausslaterin the fashion industry was left behind alone with no funds to survive. The only thing hepossessed was the cloth of canvas. Having some skills in sewing, Leiba traveled in areas of gold mining to offer his personal services to make tents. A worker refused from the tent but vouched for a pair of trousers, strong and durable. And Leiba flashed with the genius idea to make trousers from coarse but durable canvas.

The worker was satisfied to the extent that he recommended Leiba to all his co-workers. The idea of durable trousers traveled around and in the shortest time of a year Strauss owned his tailor’s workshop in San-Francisco.

The way Levis’ brand appeared

Levi invented the indigo color for his trousers by himself. He turned out to be a good trader and he came to the idea that canvas is a little bit expensive for trousers while cheaper blue twill was a perfect textile imported from the city of Nimes in France. The word denim appeared from the phrase de Nimes since the material was imported from there.

Further on Strauss attracted his companion to the business, called Jacob Davis who invented the legendary metal clasps and studs. They combined their ideas and skills to develop the Levi Strauss & Co. Empire and a little bit later they stopped for the short of Levis.

Jeans wear is believed to have three motherlands. First is America, the second of France and the third land is Italy. bales with denim were transported from USA from Genoa Port and the mark at enormous packages were read differently from worker to worker and instead of «Genoese» they spelled it as «Jeans». Strauss did no like that word at all for his works.
