The event is coming up soon and you don't know what to wear. Do you go for the wild and free or wear the formal gown? Shopping for a party dress shouldn't be such an ordeal as you will understand in a few moments. Read the tips before you buy.
All of us are not high fashion models who have a personal designer tell us what to wear and some lucky women have that innate sense of fashion flair. It seems that such women have no problem picking the absolute perfect clothing, no matter what the occasion.
Don't get too upset if current fashion trends is not your thing. Most of us unfortunately fall into the second category. Shopping for new outfits can become a chore when it takes three hours to find an outfit that you think you like.
For important fashion events like parties, this can be a particularly trying shopping trip. If you've been invited to a party and are agonizing over just how to attract the attentions of that hot guy from the office, here are some tips to make your party dress a hot number.
The dress should fit the party
First, consider the party. Is it a sit-down dinner affair? Is the party being held at a club, with plenty of dancing afoot? Is it a sorority event with an abundance of wild costumes or more casual wear? Each of these events requires a different take on your party dress.
The sit-down dinner is usually a more formal event. Although there may be dancing, it is probably not gong to include hard rock or country music choices. More like pop or ballroom stuff. More mingling of the cocktail party style.
Your party dress choice should suit this mood. A long flowing party dress or gown of a more conservative styling is your starting point. This doesn't mean it can't be hot. Think graceful and alluring, while not being overtly revealing.
The nightclub event
If you're clubbing, your party dress will be put through its paces. A shorter gown is more practical and in keeping with the main activity of dancing all night long. Glitter and sparkle go a long way here. This party garment can be more radical than one suited to the sit-down dinner. Party shoes with lights or ribbons spiraling up your legs are great additions to this costume.
Wet and wild without the wet
How about the sorority party where wild and outrageous outfits are perfectly acceptable? You can go with something like the club number or stand out from the crowd of radicals with a little black dress with some radical jewelry, other accessories and a truly outstanding hat.
For example, a wide-brimmed hat rimmed with silk flowers gives you a mysterious look that men find alluring, making them curious to find out more about you. The understated black dress can upstage the competition big time.
Your dress may be too much!
If the sorority event is a casual event, don't overdo it. This party dress should be simple, casual but elegant. A pure silk dress of a single color, paired with platforms of a plain design, should do the trick. Some types of publicity are not good so fade a bit.
